BMC had identified 60 chronic waterlogging locations across all 24 wards which witnessed waterlogging again on Tuesday. However, in addition to these, there were some areas that witnessed heavy flooding for the first time.

Areas like Worli, Bandra East, Bandra-Kura Complex, Juhu Tara Road saw waterlogging. Almost the entire Bandra Linking Road was under water despite BMC spending huge amounts in 2016 for laying new storm water drains. Western Urban Road also had severe waterlogging at several places.

Residents of these areas pointed to the ongoing Metro work, saying it caused severe water logging in western suburbs. "BKC has never seen so much waterlogging previously. Neither have Linking Road and Western Urban Road. It must be due to extensive metro work," activist Zoru Bathena said.

A BMC officer said, "The main storm water drain at Worli has been shifted due to Metro work and I believe it is blocked which caused waterlogging at several new locations."
