Trust that makes education possible for the underprivileged children

To make sure that the underprivileged children in and around Govandi, Shivaji Nagar also get a chance to study, Al-Noor Welfare society has decided to bear the expenditure of school fees, books and uniforms for kids who cannot afford normal education.

Al-Noor Welfare society, a trust, founded two years ago, hopes that this initiative will help in reducing school drop-out rates among the underprivileged. Tauheed Khan, president of the society, talking to iamin said that he started the initiative with the hope that children belonging to poor families do not stay devoid of proper education due to lack of money and other resources. The trust based in Govandi is trying to cater to the slum-dwellers in and around Govandi.

Currently, the trust teaches 30 children between the ages of 6-14 years. People around the locality appreciate the work done by Al-Noor Welfare society. Local residents speakng to iamin shared that such facilities are very helpful for families that cannot afford basic school education for their kids or books, reading material or expensive coaching classes.

The trust is also planning to start scholarships to facilitate the education of the underprivileged in the area. The trust and the residents hope that by next year, most of the children in the area’s slums will be attending school.
