Trucks collide as rains wet road, two killed on WEH

A truck cleaner and a loader died in a freak accident after a truck skidded following the pre-monsoon showers on Friday night. The mishap occured near Kandivli on the Western Express Highway, when a truck collided with one that had already overturned.

Both the drivers were left injured in the mishap, police said. Those dead were Mohammed Sayed, 20, and cleaner Bhanudas Yadav, 58, while the injured persons were identified as Imran Khan, 27, and Mohammed Khan, 30.

According to police, the two trucks were loaded with fish and were heading towards Karnataka. On the way, one of the truck driver upon approaching a slippery patch lost control of the steering, due to which the truck overturned and was hit by the second truck approaching from behind.

Sayed and Yadav died on the spot, while Imran and Mohammad were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with the help of the fire brigade and the police.

Post the accident, a part of the Western Express Highway was closed for travel.
