Truck runs over father-son duo in Ghatkopar, locals demand action

A 35-year-old father along with his 7-year-old son died in a fatal accident reported in Ghatkopar east on Thursday. The father, identified as Mohammed Jameel Bashir Sayyed and the son, Mohammed Raza Jameel Sayyed — who were returning home on their scooter, allegedly came under the tyres of a truck approaching from the back. The duo died on the spot.

According to the Pant Nagar police, Jameel and Raza were residents of Ghatkopar west. Raza was a student in a school situated in Ghatkopar east. "On Thursday late afternoon, around 3.30 pm, Jameel had come to his son's school to pick him up. The duo was on their way home from school on a scooter. At Laxmi Nagar, the scooter lost balance and the duo fell on the ground. A truck coming from behind was loaded with cement. The truck driver, identified as Satyabhan Laxman Jaiswal (48), rammed the scooter and due to the heavy load in the truck, Raza and Jameel died on the spot. Jaiswal tried to flee but the locals managed to nab him," a police officer said.
