Top snooker player held for, raping and blackmailing minor girl

A 22-year-old professional state-recognised snooker player has been arrested by the Arnala police for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl and also filming the entire episode. He has also been charged for assaulting when she refused him sexual favors.

According to Arnala Coastal police, the accused Shahbaz Assad Khan, a resident of Vasai gaon was arrested after the girl revealed to her mother about the sexual abuse and registered a complaint against him.

"The girl has alleged that she was taken to a lodge in Nalasopara where he confessed his love for her. She was then forcefully undressed and raped. He has recorded the rape on camera and threatened to defame her by leaking the pictures, said an Arnala police official.

"Later he again asked for sexual favors but she denied leading to the assault. He threatened to kill her if she revealed about the incident and soon she informed her parents and registered the complaint," said the official.

Khan was arrested under section 376 (rape), 323 (causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of Prevention of Children from sexual offences act and was produced before Vasai court. He has been remanded to police custody up to June 5 and we are investigating further, said a senior police official.
