MNS Chief Raj Thackerey refused to meet unemployed workers of Gitanjali Gems as he was too busy sketching a cartoon for his Facebook page. The Gitanjali workers are left in a lurch after the shutting down of stores throughout the city in the wake of the PNB scam.

Around 90 workers, mostly Marathi speaking, from the Kalina branch of Gitanjali Jewels, gathered at Raj Thackerey's residence to seek respite after losing their jobs following the company shutdown.

A worker from the delegation spoke to DNA and informed, " Raj Thackerey's office told us to gather around 200-250 people from all the branches to take up the matter with him. Our gratuity and service benefits of 25 years have suddenly ceased to exist after the crisis. We never expected this to happen. Hence, we came to Thackerey to seek a solution."

The worker said the delegation was further told that Raj Thackerey couldn't see them as he had to finish a cartoon to upload it to his Facebook page. " His office promised us that he will meet us after two days."

When DNA contacted MNS area chief Yashwant Killedar, he seemed ignorant of the incident and informed that he will find out more and comment.

It is important to note that the MNS as a party espouses the cause of the local Marathi speaking populace. Tuesday was also the Marathi Language day and the party had organized celebrations throughout the city. However, clearly meeting unemployed Marathi workers didn't figure in the list of priorities for them.
