To escape theft questioning, RPF official tries to end life

Meshram was suspected to have been involved in a theft at Matunga railway workshop and had been called for questioning by the investigation officer

A sub-inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) allegedly jumped in front of a train at Kurla station on Monday morning. The RPF official lost his limbs and has been admitted to Rajawadi hospital for treatment.

According to RPF, sub-inspector, RP Meshram posted at a railway workshop in Matunga jumped in front of the Titwala down train at Kurla station. Meshram was suspected to have been involved in a theft at Matunga railway workshop and had been called for questioning by the investigation officer. But around 12.26, Meshram tried to end his life.

"A theft had taken place inside the workshop and during investigations, Meshram's name cropped up. Prima facie this could be the reason behind the incident," said a senior RPF official.

Meanwhile, the sub-inspector's family members said, "They are trying to implicate him in a false case of theft. He is being harassed by the senior RPF officials."

Sachin Bhalode, Senior Divsional Security Commissioner, confirmed the incident.
