Tiff with neighbours turns fatal for Borivali man

A 50-year-old man was allegedly killed in his house by his neighbour after he barged into the former's house over a tiff with his son. The Borivali police have arrested three people. The incident happened on Sunday at around 3pm in Om Sai Darshan Building in Sodawala Lane in Borivali West when the deceased, Dayashankar Mallah was in his house with his family including his son Arjun Mallah (23). According to the police, Mallah's neighbours Amit Gupta and his family barged into Mallah's house over a past tiff with Mallah's son Arjun.

"Gupta entered with his family and in a fit of rage, pushed Mallah. Mallah fell down and asked for water. However, he fell unconscious soon, after which he was taken to the hospital by his family. He was declared dead before admission," said Narayan Khaire, Senior PI of Borivali police.

According to the police, the tiff between Arjun and Amit started about 15 days ago when the former, who is a junkie forced Amit to smoke charas with him. When Amit refused, a scuffle ensued and Gupta family reached Mallah's house to confront Arjun. The Borivali police had taken a non cognisable offence case in this matter a few days ago. "We have arrested Amit Gupta, his brother Sathish and his mother Narmada Devi on charges of murder. We will be making some more arrests as there were a few more people who barged into the house. We are awaiting post mortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of death," added Khaire. The deceased had a fruit business.

In a similar incident, a 26-year-old youth lost his life in Charkop in Kandivali West after he tried to settle a fight between his father and a neighbour. According to the police, the incident happened in a lane next to Balaji Paan shop in Ambedkar Marg in Charkop at around 3pm on Sunday. The father of the deceased, Anant Tambe and accused, Santosh Jadhav (37) were having a petty fight. "The former applied edible lime (chuna) from a paan shop in Jadhav's face and the fight got out of control. The deceased, Manoj Tambe tried to interfere," said Anand Koli, senior PI of Charkop police.

Following this, Jadhav pushed Manoj Tambe on his chest and stomach with his hand and leg after which he collapsed. Although Tambe was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead before admission.
The Charkop police has arrested Jadhav for murder. The police is awaiting post mortem reports. The deceased worked as a construction labourer.
