Three kids drown in Tansa river, bodies found in nullah

The bodies of two girls and a boy, all 9-year-olds, were found in a nullah connecting Tansa river near Vajreshwari temple, approximately 70 kilometres from the city, after they went missing from a family picnic.

The two families were out on their Diwali vacation when they realised that their children had gone missing after they had waded into the river. They alerted the locals at the picnic spot, who joined in the search for the children, only to find their bodies after some time.

According to the Wada police, the minor children, identified as Divya Udayar, Sanjay Udayar and Shivranjani Udayar, are suspected to have lost their footing and drowned in the river running along the Vajreshwari temple, as they were last seen wading into the water. The two families reside in the DN Nagar area in Andheri.

Yadunath Kode, Sarpanch of Vajreshwari, said, "The family members panicked when they did not find their children. They did not keep a close watch on their children, and as a result, the children entered the deeper side of the river and drowned. We managed to trace the bodies and the police were informed about the incident."

"The family members tried to revive the children, and rushed them to a hospital," said Kode.

A senior Wada police officer said, "We are yet to receive a proper report in this regard, but we have taken note of the incident. We have also informed the Ganeshpuri police in this regard, as the Vajreshwari temple also falls in their jurisdiction."
