A chimney of a bakery, named Aqsa Bake & Bite, in Jogeshwari suddenly collapsed on Saturday night and killed three people including a woman and injured two others. The deceased Kismat Ansari, 22, Jitendra Ansari, 21, and Teji Bhargav, 22, were labourers at the bakery.

The incident took place around 10.43 pm on Saturday when the labourers, residing in a room besides the Aqsa bakery, were resting and the chimney collapsed on them.

The firemen rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the five people trapped under the debris. They were then rushed to Balasaheb Trauma Care Centre where Kismat and Jitendra Ansari were declared dead on arrival. While, Bhargav was declared dead a few hours later by the Trauma Care Centre.

The two injured namely, Raju Bharadwaj, 26, is still hospitalised and Aji Mulla, 48, has been discharged. However, the cause of the collapse has not yet been ruled out.

"We are taking the opinion of experts whether the mishap took place due to a natural calamity (rain) or negligence on part of the owner, based on which we will take further action," said, Subhash Khanvilkar, senior police inspector at Oshiwara police station.
