Thief breaks ATM panel in Mumbai, but fails to take out money

An unidentified thief tried to break open an unguarded ATM kiosk of a nationalised bank in Vasai (East) the early hours of Saturday, but was not successful.

The machine had nearly Rs 15 lakh in the storage box. The act was captured on the CCTV camera installed at the cash point.

The Valiv police said a miscreant tried to open the ATM centre at Gokhivare village. While he managed to break its panel, he could not open cash box.

The police have registered a case under section 457 (house trespass), 380 (theft) and 511 (attempt to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code.
