The area next to any station is often the busiest and it's difficult for anything to go unnoticed. But it was noticed only recently that an old bus stop of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport (KDMT) has disappeared completely from the busy area close to Dombivli station.

On Sunday, Sagar Jedhe, the Dombivli city president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena gave a written complaint to Ramnagar police station, Dombivli regarding the missing bus stop. "The stop, which fell on the busy Dombivli-Vashi route, just disappeared six months ago," Jedhe said.

The stop near S K Patil chowk, which had a shade and seats for waiting commuters, was more than 10 years old. "Three months ago, I noticed that the stop is not there anymore and took up the matter with KDMT, which did not take it seriously," Jedhe added. "With very few bus stops left in the city, this is a matter of concern," he added.

The bus plying on the Dombivli-Vashi route passes through the spot for the bus stop and is quite popular among college students and office-goers in Dombivli, since they would otherwise have to commute by train to Thane and take a train to Vashi, which is quite risky during peak hours.

"Those who know that the bus for Vashi starts from here come and stand for it though there is no board. Moreover, with no shade, senior citizens have to stand here at the mercy of the scorching sun," Jedhe said.

Hence, after several requests to KDMT, Jedhe finally approached the police last weekend. "The cops were earlier unwilling to accept my application, saying that it is KDMT's property and they should be the complainant. But since the bus stop is a public property, I wrote to them anyway," he said.

When contacted, KDMT manager Devidas Tekale said: "In July 2015, the bus stop got damaged due to some accident and was removed."
