A city-based tourism student, said, "Every year, we celebrate this day with great pomp, however this year, due to exams falling right in mid of this day, the institute and students' wing are not taking any efforts. Nevertheless, we do not need any such special days to celebrate and boast about tourism industry as each day is a part of celebration and awareness for us."

A college principal providing tourism education said, "Tourism education has come a long way, thus creating job opportunities too through it. In fact, it could also be moulded into individual entrepreneurship if education and awareness go hand in hand. Involving locals in tourism sector can do wonders to cater tourists with authentic food and a holiday home concept with a local guide."

He added that the tourism ministry is doing its work and now is the time for the society to support tourism in India by involving locals to portray the true essence of the country's culture and heritage. "Though foreign tourism in India comes out as a small pocket investment, India has been blessed with green belts and water bodies, which is conducive for foreign tourism," he added.

A city-based rider said, "Thane appears sad to me when it comes to adventure and travel, not many people step out of their house over the weekend. Though we are blessed in nature and places can be reached easily, say the Konkan belt or Igatpuri, not many come out in the case of bikers."

Adding to it, he said coming out of the closet and tasting the chulha-made bhakri is what he says gives a lifetime experience. "As many a time during our tour, I observed that the educated class do not mingle with the rural locals. No matter one might have explored whole of India, but if he/she cannot link with the locals, then he/has not earned nothing," he added.

A travel agent said, "Thane comes out as a calm city amongst the many tickets that we sell, majorly those sold are to ones natives. Very few people are curious to travel beyond their native limits and explore."
