After a mass cleanliness campaign last month, Thane residents will once again come together for a massive beautification initiative. Under the latest drive to be launched by the TMC in December, over 30 kms of walls in the city will be painted by renowned painters, students and residents of Thane. On December 4, the plain old walls of Thane will come alive with beautiful paintings as part of a drive organised by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).

During `Paint the walls and beautify your city' campaign over 30 kms of walls in the city will be painted in phases. "We want this campaign to become a mass movement and I would appeal all the citizens and students to participate in it wholeheartedly," said Sanjeev Jaiswal, commissioner, TMC. In the first phase which will be launched on December 4, over 55,000 square feet of walls which include Cadbury service road, wall of Singhania school, pillars of Nitin junction flyover, Dharmaveer Anand Dighe pravesh dwaar (gate), Cadbury company's wall, Kopri circle, walls of Kopri ST bus stand, Kopri bus workshop, Kalwa ST workshop and Kausa auditorium will be painted.

The civic body has already selected 20 to 25 walls in each of its wards, and expects schools in these wards to encourage their students to come forward and participate in the public movement.
