Thane: Three idiots arrested for carrying sword to cut birthday cake

The Wagle Estate Police have arrested three residents of Thane for illegally carrying a sword and damaging a person's car on Thursday night. They were caught during a search operation and they told the cops that the sword was meant for cutting their friend's birthday cake.

Amar Gharat, a resident of Bhiwandi, went to drop his girlfriend home at Ambikanagar in Wagle Estate, on August 9 at around 11.15 am . "After he dropped her home in his car and was about to get back into the vehicle, three unknown men came there and pushed and shoved him," says a cop from the Wagle Estate Police Station, Thane.

They abused him and created a ruckus and even broke the glass of his car window with their sword and fled from the spot on their bike. Gharat quickly went to Wagle Estate Police Station and lodged a complaint.

"We quickly started searching for these three men on a bike and at around 4.30 am found them roaming in the area with the sword," says the cop.

When one of the cops asked them what was the sword for, they said, "It was their friend's birthday and they wanted to do something special. Everybody cuts a birthday cake with a knife, we wanted our friend to cut it with a sword." The amused cops quickly rounded up the trio - Ankush Bhadarge, 21, Rajesh Golbinde, 18, and Niranjan Bhagoji, 21, – all from Wagle Estate.

They were brought to the police station on August 10 and were charged for possessing illegal arms under the Arms Act and various sections of the Indian Penal code. On Friday, they were produced in Thane court and have been remanded to police custody until August 13.
