To ensure that women safety in Thane is not compromised in future, father of Prachi Zade and Kopri Sangharsh Samiti have organised a candle march on August 16. Vikas Zade, father of late Prachi wants the case to be put on fast-track and the killer is hanged to death.
He wants to make it sure that Akash Pawar,25 who stabbed his daughter Prachi to death on August 4 be hanged to death. He says in the past 10 years there have been similar incidents of girls being stabbed in Thane, and Pawar's punishment should be a lesson to such killers.
On August 4 around 10.30am Prachi was stabbed by jilted lover Akash Pawar near Murphy RTO (regional transport office) on the Eastern Express Highway. Prachi a resident of Kopri worked in a private firm at Kapurbawdi. She was on her way to the office when Pawar stopped her and stabbed her multiple times on the neck and upper body. While she died during treatment in a private hospital, Pawar tried to kill himself by jumping in front of an approaching bus. However, he got away with head injury and later surrendered to the cops.
Pawar had hit Prachi on June 11 near her office when he found her talking to a friend. The Zade's had approached the cops to file an
FIR under Section 354 (molestation). But inspectorr Kalyan Karpe only registered an NC (non-cognisable offence) and asked them to give Pawar a chance.
