Customer data is not safe anymore despite privacy facilities that now seem to exist only for the sake of regulatory norms. Four men were arrested by the Bhayander police from Thane district for forging people's identities and seeking personal loan to the tune of Rs 38 lakh from Bajaj Finance.

On November 22, the Bhayander police arrested four men — Dilip Balu Hajare, 34 from Ambernath, Sunil Rajendra Yadav, 32 from Baldapur, Anil Janardhan Mhaskar, 37 from Mira road and Kunal Dilip Sonkamble, 21. "After the loan amount was disbursed to them by the company they had come to Bhayander to use that money for shopping," says a senior police official from Bhayander Police Station.

When the men reached Bhayander on November 22, the cops arrested them red-handed. Preliminary investigation revealed that an insider from the company had handed them the data of 24 loan seekers. "They used this information to make documents and seek personal loan," he said. Forging documents is not enough to avail loan as it also requires verification of the information.
