Teen steps forward to educate underprivileged Dharavi kids

With an aim to help the needy children, 16-year-old Aarushi Majumder started an initiative three years ago to help the children of Dharavi in their studies.

Majumder has been associated with Acorn Foundation India, an NGO that works with Dharavi children for the betterment of their lives. To raise funds for the social cause, Majumder organised an event in her residential society and managed to raised Rs 7 lakh within two years.

Speaking about her initiative, Majumder, said, "I met the founder of the Acorn Foundation India three years ago and explained him about my interest in social work and how I wanted to extend a helping hand. Since then, I have been teaching mathematics to students between the age group of eight to 16 years."

— &TV's latest offering 'Paramavatar Shri Krishna' will trace the journey of a 4-year-old Kanha, an agent of change, who came to be worshipped as Lord Krishna. The show premieres on June 19, and will air every Monday to Friday at 8.30pm only on &TV.
