The Mumbra girl who was hit by a bullet, when a 48-year-old man opened fire on the premises of Green Park Society in Chandnagar after a dispute with residents, underwent an operation on Friday and is said to be stable. The 18-year-old, Rashida Sayyed, was standing in the balcony of her flat, calling out to her brother who was downstairs, when the accused Ashfaq Ali Siddhiqui's indiscriminate firing on Friday ended up injuring her.

Siddhiqui allegedly started firing after getting into a quarrel with the residents, who opposed his friend and society resident Abdul Khan installing an illegal electric meter outside his house.

Rashida's brother Rakibali, 30, said, "I took her to Kalsekar hospital, but they asked us to go to Jupiter hospital as it was a police case. The operation was done on Friday night. Doctors removed the bullet, but she's still in the ICU. After a few days, she will be shifted out to a ward and discharged soon."

A police officer from Shil Daighar said, "We have arrested five people, two are absconding. Further investigations are on."
