A 23-year-old software engineer from Andhra Pradesh, who had arrived in Mumbai to resume work at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has been missing since January 5.
SJS Prasad, 59, retired professor from Andhra University, said, “After the Christmas vacation, my elder daughter, Esther Anuhya, boarded the Vishakapatnam - LTT Express at Vijayawada railway station on January 4 for Mumbai.
“On the same day, when the train reached Solapur around 10 pm, I had called and spoke to her for five minutes, where she said that she was alright and had reached Solapur. She also told him that she will call me the next morning, once she reaches her Andheri hostel.
On January 5, around 7am, I called her, but she did not answer the phone. So I thought that she was sleeping.”
Anuhya’s father kept calling her the entire afternoon on both her cellphones, but they were found to be switched off. He even contacted her colleagues but there was no trace of her. That is when he lodged ‘a missing persons’ complaint at the Vijayawada railway police station on January 5.
Later, Prasad came to Mumbai and lodged ‘a missing complaint’ of Esther Anuhya at the Kurla railway police station on January 8.
“We have contacted some passengers, who travelled in the same compartment and stated that the girl was present till LTT. The location of one of her cellphones was last traced to Bhandup on January 5 at 3pm. She was carrying two ATM cards. However, there were no transactions since January 5,” said PD Babar, police inspector of the Kurla railway police station, adding that they have circulated her photographs and detailed descriptions to all the police stations and railway police stations in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai in a bid to trace her.

She is the elder daughter of SJS Prasad, a retired professor of Andhra University
She has been working as a software engineer in TCS at Goregaon since September 2012, and was staying at YWCA Hostel in Andheri.
