Teachers and professors of the colleges affiliated with the Mumbai University are worried about losing their vacations as most examinations for undergraduate courses will be getting over only by May.

With the current exam timetable, most prominent exams including Bachelors of Arts(BA) and Bachelors of Science (BSc) would get over only by the beginning of May, leaving hardly any time for teachers to assess papers before the vacations.

The University has recently started sending out letters to teachers asking them to join the on-screen assessment for the final year papers. However, with the first and second-year exams still ongoing, teachers are finding it difficult to take out time for assessments amidst supervision duties.

"Last year, we lost our summer break due to the evaluation mess that happened during to the introduction of the new system. Now, with the academic calendar gone for a toss, we have to give up on our holidays yet again," said a teacher from a South Mumbai college.

Teachers said that with the evaluation work taking place during vacations, the speed of assessments might get affected. "Like last year, many teachers would not log into the system in the first few days and the number of papers assessed would also be low," added another teacher.
