A 16-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her Bookkeeping and Accounts teacher inside the library of a reputed college in Ghatkopar on the pretext of increasing her marks in the subject. The furious parents created a ruckus inside the college after learning about the incident and have filed a formal complaint with the Pantnagar police station.

According to police, the accused Imran Khan, taught the subject to First Year Junior College (FYJC) students. On March 8, he allegedly summoned the teenager to the library and tried to touch her inappropriately. He then demanded sexual favours to increase her marks.

The girl became depressed and was afraid of attending his lectures. "We noticed a behavioural change in our daughter," says the father. "She became very quiet and scared.

"He was supposed to be a father figure to her."

When she told her parents about the incident, they went to confront him.

"The parents first assaulted the teacher in college," said a police officer.

"The teacher has been with us for 14-15 years," said the principal of the college. "He has a clean service record. He was going home after supervising SSC board exams when a group of people started beating him up inside the campus. I immediately intervened and called the police. I don't know the student's allegations. We will look into them."

Akhilesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 7 said a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the accused will be produced in court on Sunday. "We are checking CCTV footage of the premises," he added
