The MRA Marg police have arrested two people for beating up three photo-journalists outside the Tata House in Fort on Friday afternoon. The photo-journalists were present at the spot to cover a board meeting of the Indian Hotels Company Limited. The scuffle took place after the former chairman of Tata Group, Cyrus Mistry, went inside the building and the photo-journalists tried to click his photograph.

"The accused, identified as security guards Ganesh Shinde, 26, and Mayur Gurav, 28, will be in the judicial custody till November 18. They have applied for bail. Five-six more people will be arrested in the case," Senior Police Inspector of the MRA Marg police station said.

"We have three eye-witnesses, the photo-journalists, as well as video evidence. Their statement has been recorded."

Meanwhile, a few videos of the photo-journalists, who were later admitted to St George's Hospital, being bashed up have gone viral. The MRA Marg police have registered offenses under sections 141 (unlawful assembly), 143, 147 (rioting), 323, (voluntarily causing hurt), and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a statement released by the Tata Group, spokesperson Debasis Ray said: "We deeply regret the incident during the entry of certain board directors. We profusely apologise to the press corp and their families for this incident. We will ensure that such a situation does not recur."
