Disgruntled members of Talwalkars Fitness Solution have accused the gym management of not refunding their fees even after promising to do so two months ago.

Earlier the management had allegedly announced closure of its Vazira branch (Ashok Nagar) in Borivali West and said it would be shifting the centre to a new location in the vicinity in May. Alleging that the management had kept them in the dark about the sudden closure, several members had sought refund of their money.

The members had also approached the MHB Colony police in April following which the management headed by Rahul Talwakar had given an undertaking promising to return the money latest by June 10 and to announce the new location by May end.

Currently, the Vazira branch is shut and over 130 members have not been refunded their membership amount that goes up to the tune of Rs21 lakh. The members say they have no idea about when the location of the new gym or its opening.

The members of the gym who go by the name Talwalkars Vazira Members Association has submitted another application with the MHB Colony police recently to register an FIR against the management.

Sunil Bhanushali whose two children were enrolled in the gym days before its closure, said, "We were, time and again, being given acknowledgements that money will be refunded. Now they don't even bother to answer our calls. I am supposed to get a refund of Rs45,000. A lot of us are clueless and upset over the gross mismanagement and negligence by the gym management over the last eight months."

Lawyer Gunwant Patira, one of the members, said, "The management asked us to join the gym's IC Colony and Charkop branches until the new gym gets ready. However, when we refused to do that as it is inconvenient and asked for the refund instead, the management had agreed. Currently, over 130 of us representing the association have submitted a complaint. But there are many more members who are yet to send details of their refunds to us."

Sources also add that the gym management has allegedly defaulted on its rent and water payments and have also not been paying its staffers over the last several months.
While Rahul's phone remained unavailable despite repeated attempts, two months ago, Rahul had told DNA that the management had started processing of its cheques and that the new location will be opened soon.
