This year's dna I Can Marathon has introduced a new concept to 'tag' a person to run along with you. The theme 'Don't Run Alone. Tag Someone' wishes to make the I Can marathon into a We Can movement.

With races ranging from 5kms, 10kms to the half marathon of 21 kms, women can tag their friends for support, encouragement, a cause or just for the sake of running.

Vrushali Kulkarni, an event producer from Parel, was an unofficial tag-along last year. "One of my aunts had asked me to join her and she was very enthusiastic about it. I'm considering tagging some people this year," she said.

The Rs100 discount on registration fee for women who tag two people to run with them isn't the only incentive for the initiative. "It's a very new concept and while running 10 kms is relatively easy, having someone motivating you can make a big difference during the 21 km race. That motivation can push you a lot further," said Pallavi Kamat, business manager at Kotak Life Insurance.

The Marathon supports the cause of girl child education and a part of the funds generated will go to the NGOs picked by dna.

Although participants cannot ask people to run instead of them, Dhara Jain, a fashion designer from Malad, has the intention to do so. She said that she would love to tag someone to run instead of her, adding, "Tagging along could be great idea. This year, I'm pregnant, so I can't run, but I'd love to tag someone who could run instead of me."
