As part of a month-long initiative, Swacch Colaba, Abode and Youth from Global Peace and Transformation (YGPT) in conjunction with iconic establishments from the vicinity cleaned the streets of this historic area. The cleanliness drive, supported by BMC, was spread over a stretch from Regal Cinema to the end of Colaba Causeway.
Led by Abode and YGPT, the cleanliness drive received an overwhelming response from residents, school children and college students, as well from residents. The drive covered activities including educating residents, shop keepers, hawkers and passers-by while emphasizing on the difference between elements like wet and dry garbage.
Abedin Sham, Founder, Abode Bombay, said, "The campaign has been a great success and has managed to educate and multiply participation from not only Colaba but around the vicinity."
Aneesa Dhody Mehta, Managing Director, Creative Co, emphasised, "Cleanliness is a freedom movement for an aspiring nation."
The cleanliness drive was active throughout on all Saturdays of December. Establishments from Colaba, residents and shops had come on board to help spread awareness on the importance of keeping the streets filth-free.
"Our Swacch Colaba Campaign's intention is not only symbolic but with an intention to create awareness in our society to keep our city clean," said Devendra Wadke, YGPT coordinator, Mumbai.
