An additional civil surgeon (ACS) at the Thane civil hospital, Dr. Nitin Mokashi, along with other Thane civic hospital and IGM hospital staff, will go on an indefinite strike protesting a suspension order against him and certain other medical staff members. On February 26, the ACS and certain nursing staff and doctors held a protest in the premises of the Thane Civil hospital, during which they displayed a banner that stated that the suspension orders given out were not proper.

When dna spoke to Mokashi, he said, "The order had come late and the incident in question took place when I was in Bhiwandi's IGM hospital. I have now been transferred to the Thane civil hospital and the order has come extremely late. The authorities should understand that there is already a shortage of staff members and doctors and if the authorities keep on suspending people, then who will remain for work to be carried out? Normally, there are complaints about people unwilling to come here, but even when we are here and working, the authorities still have a problem. In all, more than 17 doctors and staff members, including some from the Konkan region, have been suspended."

Mokashi further said, "We are protesting against the illegal suspension orders and against the fact that it's too late now for these to be issued. We will go on an indefinite strike by next week if our issues are not taken seriously."
A nurse added, "We are protesting against the orders, which have come late. If we follow the order, then who will fill the manpower gaps that already exist?"
