One of the policemen suspended for the arrest of the two girls over a Facebook status, former DCP (zone X) Ravindra Sengaonkar, allegedly drove a constable to attempt suicide seven years ago.
Subhash Parab, head constable of Powai police station, allegedly tried to kill himself by consuming pesticide at his Mulund residence in December 2005. Parab, who was 49 then, alleged that Sengaonkar constantly harassed him and had made his life miserable.
Parab said he had tried to swap his weekly off with a colleague on December 12, 2005, as there was a puja at his home. The colleague, however, refused to saying it was the day of the parade and Sengaonkar was strict with respect to every policeman’s participation in it.
