Supervisor of Dahisor club held after teen gets injured during archery session

The MHB Colony police station arrested the supervisor of a Dahisar-based sports club a day after a 15-year-old boy was critically injured by an arrow during an archery practice session. The victim accidentally came between the target and the arrow when he went to collect a cricket ball.

According to MHB Colony police, the arrested accused, identified as Bipin Bihari, is the supervisor of Vishwapragati Sports Club.

The police stated that the victim, Brijesh Sahani, was playing cricket on the right side of the archery practice area when the incident happened.

An official from MHB Colony police station said: "A 17-year-old state level archer, who was due to participate in an event, had shot an arrow from distance of 70 metres. Before the arrow could hit the target, Sahani suddenly appeared between the target and the arrow."

The arrow pierced through Sahani's brain and was removed after a life-saving surgery at Karuna hospital in Borivli on Friday. The teen is currently out of danger.

Sahani's father drives an autorickshaw, and the family resides at Ganpat Patil Nagar in Borivli. Sahani was involved in a cricket practice session and veered over to the archery practice area only to retrieve a ball.

The police is yet to arrest the 17-year-old archer involved in the accident. Bihari is a resident of Kandarpada in Dahisar. Both, Bihari and the archer have been booked on charges of negligence and causing grievous hurt.
