Sunil Paraskar, the deputy inspector general of police accused of moleting and raping a model, has handed over a list of 12 names as witnesses on his behalf to the crime branch.

In a letter to the investigation officer, Paraskar said that in the interest of a fair investigation the crime branch should record the statement of all the witnesses he has named.

The letter was sent to the crime branch on August 1. Among the witnesses Paraskar has named is his wife and a public relations manager who had accompanied him and the model to dinner in Bandra.

He has also named the managers of three hotels where he had meals with the model, the manager of a bungalow in Gorai who permitted the model to do a photoshoot on the request of the police officer.

The DIG has mentioned the names of the photographer who undertook the shoot and two constables from Malawani police station who had questioned the model when she was doing the shoot at Madh Island.

Paraskar has stated that the model used his name to persuade the cops to allow her to continue the shoot.

Paraskar has also named a senior police inspector from Dindoshi, a person who assist the police in CDR work and two media persons.

The DIG also stated that the statements of the witnesses be recorded at the earliest and be taken on record. He also alleged that media reports about the case were one-sided and that his version was not being reported by the media.
