35-year-old model and actor coordinator Ekta Babbar jumped to death from the 16th floor of Green Acres building in Andheri West on Sunday night. Babbar lived with her mother in the building in Lokhandwala, Andheri. The Oshiwara police said her father's death five months ago might be the trigger.

Around 11 pm, Babbar retired to bed while her mother was watching TV. Subhash Vele, senior inspector of Oshiwara police station, said, "Ekta's bedroom did not have a grill. She locked the room from inside. Sometime after 11:30, she jumped from her room when her mother was watching television in the hall."

The watchman of the building saw her lying in a pool of blood and alerted police. "When we arrived at the spot, the body parts were scattered and hence it was difficult for the watchman or the neighbours to identify her," added Vele. Upon noticing that the 16th floor house did not have a grill, the officials went there. The girl's mother told the police that her daughter was asleep in her room.

When they knocked her bedroom, there was no answer. Following this, they broke open the door and found she was not in the bedroom. "We believe it was a planned move. No suicide note was recovered," added Vele.
The police will check her call records. Babbar ran a business whereby she supplies fresh film artists to producers and directors of film and television.
