Stunts kill pillion rider, biker booked

A 20-year-old biker has been booked by the Vile Parle police for allegedly riding his two-wheeler dangerously and ramming into a divider at Andheri which led to the pillion rider's death. The eyewitnesses, in their statement to the police, claimed that the biker was performing stunts on his two-wheeler.

According to the police, on September 23 the youth who was riding his bike dangerously on Sahar Road, moving towards Andheri. Then he lost control and rammed into a divider leading to severe injuries to him and Shahbaz Shaikh, the pillion rider. The duo was rushed to the hospital for treatment but Shaikh succumbed to his injuries.

"We have registered a case under sections 304 (A) (Causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code and we are investigating further," said a police officer from the Vile Parle police station.

Another hit and run case was reported to Tilak Nagar police station. Abdul Khan, 48, was on his two-wheeler when an unidentified truck driver rammed into his vehicle at Santacruz-Chembur Link Road leading to the pillion rider's death.
