Students from schools across Thane joined hands with Korum mall to commemorate National Science Day. On February 26 and 27, the mall chose the theme of bio-diversity and spread awareness among the students to save nature.

"In our school, we have week-long activities to celebrate National Science Day. All the research for these competitions are undertaken by the students which gives them a chance to learn more. Every year, we conduct street plays that focus on various topics, children themselves find out about the character they have to play and the teachers mould their role and dialogues as per their research. But, this year, Korum mall gave us a chance to perform the street play inside the mall," says Nandita Khanna, principal of Nalanda Public School.

Students performed a skit on conserving nature and for this they took the role of various extinct creatures or those that may soon extinct. They highlighted how it is essential to protect nature and not harm the homes of animals and birds. A quiz on biodiversity was also conducted on the first day for the students of Nalanda Public School.

On the second day, there was a painting competition in which students from 30 schools participated. They were judged by some well-known professors from JJ School of Arts.

"We need to save nature for the future generation. They will understand the importance of conserving nature and educate their families about it," says Deva Jyotula, general manager, Korum mall.
