The students from rural areas have proven their mettle in science, experiments and creativity. At a regional-level science event at Baner village in Bhiwandi, organised by Jidnyasa Trust, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, about 148 tribal schools from Thane region participated.

The trust believes in promoting science and technology among students by giving equal opportunity to one and all. It is not only for the students from affluent schools but, the trust gives equal opportunity to rural students, who are creative enough and ready to explore a new world.

Making prototypes for reusing water used for washing cars, studying effects of weather on rice cultivation or creating simple games on banking, students from the tribal schools excelled at these themes and presented thought-provoking projects.

Surendra Dighe, executive president of National Centre for Science Education, Maharashtra and managing trustee of Jidnyasa Trust, shared, "There is no dearth of talent among student, they only need to be guided well, along with right platform and positive energy. They have capacity to surpass anybody if given right opportunity and we train students to make them aware of different competitions wherein they can participate and excel."

The students shared that they are fascinated with science and because of sheer interest, they keep experimenting every day with something new. Whether it is dismantling gadgets or studying the effect of weather change, students have it all and are ready to represent Maharashtra in rural groups for the national-level in Banglore from December 27 to December31.
The team led by Shankar Daroda from Shahpur has been selected for national-level to represent Maharashtra in rural group and very aptly, the project talks about effect of weather changes on rice cultivation.

Surendra Dighe added, "I have bigger plans for students as I am looking at working on other skills so that they can be at par with others and compete globally."
