Considering that investigative journalist Poonam Agarwal has confidential material about other cases on her laptop, mobile and camera, which can be easily retrieved by the police, but is unrelated to the suicide case of Indian Army soldier Lance Naik Roy Mathew, the Bombay High Court, has asked her to deposit the same with the registry until further orders.

The court modified its order passed on April 26, after grievances raised by Agarwal that even if the devices were cleaned of all data, it could be retrieved.

It was argued that “other sensitive information needs to be protected” and directed Agarwal to deposit and keep the devices in a sealed condition. Last month, the court had granted anticipatory bail to a journalist, who was booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of Indian Army soldier.
