Std VI students belonging to the state board (SSC) will have a new syllabus from the upcoming academic year.

Teachers from all schools, teaching Std VI students, have been called for training through virtual classrooms before the school starts, while school heads are awaiting the books to arrive in the market to check if there are any mistakes in it.

While earlier it used to be difficult for schools to handle syllabus change as teachers were called in for training during school hours. This time around, it is not the situation, as the teachers have been called during the vacation to make them ready before the next academic year begins.

The Maharashtra Council of Educational Research and Training recently issued the circular for all the schools to send their Std VI teachers for virtual training. The training will be given on new syllabus that is going to be changed. The training will be conducted in schools that have video-conferencing facility available. Education officials have been asked to make provision of the textbooks from Balbharati for the training that needs to be given to teachers on new syllabus, stated the circular.

Prashant Redij, principal of Hilda Castelino High School in Kandivli, said: "It will be a great relief for the schools this time if the teachers will be trained for new syllabus during vacation. A year before the teachers were called in during the school hours and it use to be difficult to handle the students. Now, we will wait for the books to arrive so that we can go through the syllabus and also find if there are any mistakes. Also, this time the virtual training will be given to teachers, which means instead on black board I guess they will be given training on interactive boards which is another welcoming move."

Echoing similar sentiments, Uday Nare, teacher of Hasnraj Morarji Public School in Andheri, said: "This is a big relief that the teachers are being called during vacation for training. The students will not miss their lectures during school hours."
