State transport incurs losses worth Rs 20 cr on bandh

State transport has incured losses to the tune of Rs 20 crores during the statewide Bandh and demonstrations after Koregaon Bhima incident on January 1, 2018. The MSRTC has decided to bear the loss taking in to account feelings of the agitators.

Minister fo Transport Diwakar Raote who is also chairman of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) infomed media persons that MSRTC has incurred loss of Rs. 1 crore due to damage of ST 217 buses during the 2-day agitation. 

Raote informed that out of 250 ST depots, 213 ST depots could not have any movement of ST buses resulting in loss of revenue to the tune of Rs 19 crores.

The minister said that MSRTC would incur losses in its daily revenue since the damages buses would take time to ply after repairs and maintenance. Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to people at large due to disrupted service during the 2-day agitation and Maharashta Bandh on yesterday, Raote said that MSRTC would bear the losses and it would not be recovered from agitators since MSRTC respects the feelings behind this agitation.
