After farmer leaders on Monday set ablaze the Government Resolution (GR) citing insulting preconditions for providing Rs 10,000 thousand to farmers for Kharif season sowing, the state government on Tuesday decided to amend the GR.

The steering committee of farmers' organisations has given a call to stage demonstrations outside all the Tehsil offices in the state. They have also given a call to set ablaze the GR at all Tehsil offices on June 21, Wednesday.

The state government has decided to remove 'insulting' preconditions. Apart from that, it has removed the criteria for possession of a car. Similarly, as far as government servants are concerned, those having a salary of Rs 4 lakh per annum or more will not be provided with the Rs 10,000 loan.

Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister, Chandrakant Patil, informed that Government has decided to change the preconditions. He said that with amendments in GR, the directors of cooperatives will be eligible for availing the Rs 10,000 loan. Only chairman and vice-chairman will be ineligible, and on the same lines, Zilla Parishad members are excluded while Panchayat Samiti members can avail the loan.
