State govt to crack down on integrated colleges: Vinod Tawde

State Education Minister Vinod Tawde said that the government will put an end to the system of integrated colleges starting 2018. Tawde said that students should not take admissions into such integrated colleges stating that the government will bring in strict norms for such colleges.

While responding to a question raised by Ashish Deshmukh in the assembly on Friday, Tawde said that students who take admission in integrated coaching classes from next year will need at least 80 per cent attendance.

He added that attendance will be recorded through a biometric system and students who do not attend will not be allowed to appear for the Class 12 board exams.

Narendra Bambwani, ex-vice-president of the Maharashtra Coaching Owners' Association (MCOA) that is currently fighting a case against integrated coaching centres said, "Why is the government not taking action against such colleges from this year itself?"
