The state government is preparing to celebrate two years in office in style. A massive advertisement campaign will be launched next week, including a traditional publicity campaign, street plays and such, and a social media campaign. Events will be organised at spots such as state transport bus stand and tehsil offices, where crowds gather in large numbers.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked all his cabinet ministers to send in a list of five achievements of their departments. He further asked the ministers to ensure that they didn't mention just a decision as achievement. It has to have tangible results on ground and an impact on the public at large. The CM also instructed all the officials to refer to the event as "communicating the achievements", instead of terming it as a celebration of two years in office.

An official from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) told dna that street plays and other innovative ideas were being deployed for an effective campaign, since it was going to have an impact on the ensuing elections of various local bodies.

A two-day BJP state executive meeting was held in this regard. A committee has also been formed to undertake various programmes on the behalf of the party to disseminate the "achievements" of Fadnavis government to all parts of the state.

Meanwhile, it is likely that the code of conduct for the local bodies' elections would come in to force by October 20. An official, however, said, "Even when the code of conduct comes in to force, I cannot stop the government from functioning and communicating its achievements to the people." The Devendra Fadnavis-led state government took oath on October 31, 2014.

Another official said the publicity department has been asked to prepare an advertisement campaign for the same, which will have to be released next week, as the government will get only 10-15 days to reach out to the masses.

A senior official from the Directorate General of Information and Publicity Department said traditional media, including newspapers and TV channels, will be approached to disseminate the information about the government's achievements in the last two years. He added that jingles as well as spots of 30 seconds have also been prepared.
