State board teachers seek exemption from election duty

According to the Parishad, the secondary school teachers will be busy with Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examinations which will begin in February.

Teachers organization Shikshak Parishad has written to the state election commission to exempt secondary section teachers from election duty for the upcoming corporation elections, slated to be held in February 2017. 

According to the Parishad, the secondary school teachers will be busy with Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examinations which will begin in February.

A large number of teachers are usually called on election duty when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections are held in Mumbai. However, with the oral and practical exams for the SSC and HSC Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Higher Secondary Education examinations beginning in February,  and teachers will be busy in conducting exams. About 15lakh students appear for the exams across the state.
