SSC PAPER LEAK: Coaching centres on police radar, one held

In a major breakthrough, the Bhiwandi city police on Wednesday had arrested one person suspected to be involved in leaking Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board question paper of Science I. The arrested person who has been identified as Sheikh Wazir Hafiz Rahman is attached to a coaching class at Bhiwandi.

Ankit Goyal, DCP (Zone-II, Bhiwandi) confirmed the arrest of Sheikh. However, he refused to divulge further details on the case.

On the other hand, Narpoli police are still investigating into the Social Science paper 1 leak case.

On Tuesday night Mumbai Divisional Board officials filed an FIR at Bhiwandi city police station on Science & Technology paper I leak of SSC board exam. Another FIR was registered on Wednesday at Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi East after 60 marks Social Science paper I (History and Political Science) of SSC was leaked after three students were caught with mobile phones having screenshots of question paper.

A complainant Govind Sharma, founder of Samvad Foundation from Bhiwandi, brought to the notice of Mumbai divisional board and Bhiwandi police about the leaking of papers. Taking quick action, board officials filed the FIRs. Sharma alleged that even Maths papers were leaked in Bhiwandi.

Speaking about it Subhash Kokate, senior inspector of Bhiwandi city police said, "Investigation is underway. However, we suspect the involvement of coaching centres in the leak."

Sharad Khandagale, Secretary Mumbai Divisional Board, said, "The board will start their internal inquiry on paper leak only after we get to know the outcome of the police investigation."
