Students appearing for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams can now fill up their board exam forms online.
The state board has taken this decision with a view to cut short the long process of distributing exam forms manually in schools. Starting from the October 2011 exam meant for repeaters, students will be able to fill their forms on the state board’s website.
“This is the next step in online admissions. We will soon start it for March exams as well. Earlier, students would have to go to school just to fill up this form. It would disrupt their studies. But now they can choose to fill the form from the comfort of their homes,” said a senior board official.
Though the new system will benefit schools, some principals say that it will add to confusion. “The board exam forms need to be filled under proper supervision. Schools and colleges have the necessary trained personnel to guide students. Left on their own, students are sure to make mistakes,” said T Shivare, principal, Hinduja College.
So far, students had to stand in queues to buy and submit forms. The huge numbers of students made manual distribution difficult for schools.
