A 65-year-old man was killed after a biker allegedly rammed into him in Kandivli (E) on Saturday morning. The victim, Ram Kasroom, who was undergoing treatment in a hospital, succumbed to injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police, the incident happened at 7:30 am on Saturday when the biker, Vikrant Sibbal, 36, lost control and hit Kasroom while he was trying to cross the road in Akurli. The victim was on his way from his home to a nearby clinic.

The Samta Nagar police have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving and arrested the accused.

Ravindra Patil, senior PI of Samta Nagar police station said: “After the accident, the accused took him to the hospital and took care of the treatment. We were informed by the hospital staff. We had initially registered a case of rash driving and causing hurt by endangering life of others.”

However, due to severe head injuries, the victim died on Tuesday. In Sibbal's statement to the police, he said that in order to avoid colliding with an autorickshaw, he made a sharp turn and rammed into Kasroom accidentally.
Kasroom's body was handed over to his family, said the police. The accused, an employee of a media organisation, was released on bail, on Tuesday.

This is the second accident to happen on this stretch in the last four days. On Monday, two rickshaw drivers died and two passengers were injured following a head-on collision between the vehicles on Akurli Road.
