Aiming at promoting academic excellence in global management education, city-based B-school SP Jain Center of Management has introduced a novel four-year 'Global BBA' program giving students an opportunity to pursue the course in two of their campuses at Sydney and Singapore.
"This is a unique high-end initiative taken by us and is a four-year undergraduate course in Bachelor of Business Adminstration (BBA). First two years, the course will be conducted in Singapore--the gateway to South East Asia, followed by next two years in Sydney--the educational and financial hub of Australia," Nitish Jain, president of SP Jain Centre of Management told PTI today.
"This new model exposes students to different cultures and business environments thereby leading to 'experiential learning' and introducing and sharpening global perspectives," Jain said.
The course will begin from September this year and a total of 120 students (12th passed or IB students) will be selected from across the globe through an entrance exam at various centres, he said.
Elaborating on the importance of Global BBA program, Dr Dawn Dekle, Dean of the BBA program said, "as we live in a globally competitive environment, the need for global managers has been increasing rapidly. What sets the program distinct is its global emphasis and newly designed complete education curriculum."
"Besides courses in business subjects, the curriculum includes liberal arts and workshops in critical thinking, integrating information, perspective-taking, enhancing the cultural quotient and advanced communication skills," Dekle said.
At the end of the program, students will be conferred with an international degree from SP Jain Center of Management from Sydney, a degree equivalent to any other Australian University degree giving them impetus for the pursuit of further education or career globally, she said.
On the fee structure, Jain said, "we will be charging $1200 per year."
SP Jain Centre also has their world class MBA programmes in Dubai and Singapore besides Mumbai. It will have establish its campus in Sydney by 2012 and its centre is already recognised by Australian government, Jain said.
Dekle specialises in strategic leadership, with a focus on leadership development and training. Prior to joining SP Jain, she was a leadership expert with Mckinsey & Company.
