Residents of Cuffe Parade are set to groove on the tunes of Navratri this year. After a gap of four years, the Cuffe Parade Residents Association will celebrate 'Navratri Dhamaka 2017' on September 29.
"The idea behind this celebration is to create bonding among the residents," said Padmakar Nandekar, secretary general of CPRA.
The residents have invited singers including Kavitha Murthy, Dr. Rahul Joshi. The two Gujarati singers are yet to give their confirmation. "To ensure that residents have a great experience, we are looking for a good sound system. Since there is nothing that happens in the area, people wanted this to happen," said Nandekar.
The event will be held at the World Trade Centre Hall in Cuffe Parade.
"We used to have the Navratri celebration in our Bay View Marina garden but some people took objection. So, this time we have decided to shift the venue to WTC hall which is also air conditioned," said Sulakshna Chowghule, senior vice president of the CPRA. The WTC hall which can occupy a moving crowd of 1,000 people is likely to be used by association, said Nandekar.
"We will allow entry only through donor passes. Through this, we will also raise money for the activities of our association," said Nandekar.
