Soon, you will be able to avail services of two-wheelers on rent at key tourist places in Maharashtra. The services will kick-start from hill station of Mahabaleshwar, which is popular among the Mumbaikars round-the-year before being rolled-out at other places.

At present renting of two-wheelers is a popular way of travelling among the tourists visiting places like Goa, Manali, etc. It gives travellers the freedom to move around at their own pace and is convenient and cheaper in comparison with travelling in a public transport or hiring a four wheeler.

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Sai Baba Enterprises on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard, the officials from the state tourism department said.

The MTDC officials said that availing of these rental services would be a smooth process as tourists are required to provide basic government identity proof only. "The rental charges would be cost-effective and duration/distance reliant to suit the requirements of every type of travellers," the official added.

Commenting on the signing of the MOU, Paraag Jaiin Nainuttia, managing director – Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd said, "Two-wheelers were the popular travelling choice for the tourists as it is not only economical and convenient but also time efficient. It also provides the most favourable travel option to connect with the destination and to soak in the beauty of the location. Road infrastructure in Maharashtra is encouraging for safe two-wheeler travel and we are delighted to have signed the MoU with Sai Baba Enterprises to promote this form of touring among visitors."

Chikaldara – the only hill station in the Vidharba region and the sole coffee growing region in Maharashtra, celebrated a momentous milestone when local farmers grew strawberries for the first time ever in its history.

Strawberry faming has featured prominently on the region's development plans charted out by the Maharashtra government. Various schemes, training sessions and supplementary support has been provided to local farmers to educate them about the specifics and benefits of strawberry farming in the region. Not only will this provide a definitive, sustainable livelihood for the farmers but, will also add to the tourism appeal of the destination.
