Post-mortem reports confirm that Siddhant Ganore was at home at the time of his mother's death
The probe by the Vakola police in the murder of 42-year-old Deepali Ganore, wife of Khar police inspector Dnyaneshwar Ganore revealed that their son Siddhant, after allegedly stabbing Deepali in the neck several times, watched her die a slow death. As per the post-mortem report, Deepali died between 8 pm and 9 pm. CCTV footage of the building also revealed that Siddhant had left the building after 8 pm, putting him at the scene of the crime at the time of her death.
According to Vakola police, Deepali was found dead inside the bedroom of their residence at AG Co-operative housing society at Prabhat colony of Vakola in Santacruz East. A pair of clothes with blood stains were found along with a knife used to kill Deepali. Siddhanth, 21, was a science student at National College. A message was written by Siddhant on the floor — 'Tired of her, catch me and hang me' with a gory smiley written with the blood of Deepali.
A senior police officer from the Vakola division said, "Siddhant told the police that he had attacked his mother at around 6 pm. Siddhant's clothes were completely blood stained as he wrote the message using his mother's blood and two hours later fled from the residence and took a train to Borivli."
"CCTV camera footage of the building captured him leaving the residence. He is co-operating with us in the investigations and we will be collecting the evidence by recreating the scene," said the officer.
"We have seized the murder weapon from the residence as well as the blood-stained clothes of the accused. We are investigating further," said Mahadeo Wavale, Senior Inspector, Vakola police station.
Siddhant Ganore has been remanded in police custody till June 2 and will be reproduced before Bandra court for proceedings on Friday afternoon.
