Rubabuddin Sheikh, the brother of encounter victim Sohrabuddin Sheikh, on Monday filed an application in the special CBI court, alleging that one of the accused, a former ATS sub-inspector, threatened him in the court premises.

Rubabuddin pleaded the court to cancel the bail granted to the accused, claiming that the ex-officer, NV Chauhan, threatened him to 'stay within his limits'.

Accordingly, the court, which is conducting trial in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, has asked the advocate for the accused to file his reply and has adjourned the matter to October 6.

Meanwhile, the court once again granted exemption to BJP leader Amit Shah from appearing in court, after the senior leader's advocate informed that he is busy with election campaign work in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to dna about the events that unfurled at 10:50am, Rubabuddin said, "Ten minutes before the judge could preside, all the accused were seated on chairs allotted for advocates and the general public. When I asked them to sit in the box reserved for the accused, NV Chauhan, who was attached as a sub-inspector with the ATS, Ahmedabad, started threatening me to be in my limits."

When Rubabuddin brought this to the court's notice, he was asked to file an application and put it on record.

Sohrabuddin was allegedly killed by the Gujarat Police on November 25, 2005 in a staged shootout. Two days later, his wife Kausar Bi was also allegedly killed. A year later, Sohrabuddin's aide Tulsiram Prajapati was found murdered on December 28, 2006.
