Small political parties — who supported the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance for the formation of government in Maharashtra — not having any say in decision making is a fact hidden by none. But now, they would not have any say in the one-year celebration of the Devendra Fadnavis government, to be celebrated on October 31.

Interestingly, the committee formed to prepare the plan for celebrating one year in office has representation of both, BJP and Shiv Sena, according to the power sharing ratio of 2:1.

For the anniversary, the chief minister has asked all his cabinet colleagues to prepare a list of achievements for every department. The achievements of every department would then be included in the publicity material being prepared by the state government.

Now, the committee of six ministers — formed to prepare the celebration plan — has four ministers from the BJP while the remaining are from Shiv Sena. Currently, the cabinet has 30 ministers with Shiv Sena having 10 and the BJP having 20.

Despite the fact that Fadnavis government is completing a year in office, Shiv Sena's mouthpiece Saamna has been criticizing the BJP on a daily basis. Cabinet minister Eknath Shinde, who was not attending any meetings for a long time protesting against Shiv Sena ministers being ignored and their files being kept aside, is representing Shiv Sena in this committee along with health minister Dr Deepak Savant.

The BJP has already asked its workers to organize corner meetings all across the state so that the government's achievements are conveyed to people at large. Even though the government is not planning a grand celebration of completing one year in office, it would be doing so by utilizing the publicity department.

On being asked about the same, finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that even though there is no separate allocation as such for celebrating the one-year in office it is the duty of the government to tell the electorate which has elected it as what has it done in the last one year.

With available resources for conveying the achievements to public, the government would reach out to people but no special celebration as such is being considered, he added.
